The Weaverville PTO Fall Festival took place on Friday,
October 15th. The several hundred children and adults that attended the event
had fun bouncing, playing, eating and just running around. New
this year was a 50/50 raffle, with one lucky person winning more than $2,000!
We would like to express a very special thank
you to Kristi Byers, the Fall Festival committee, our sponsors (see back), all of the parents and teachers who
volunteered on the day of the event. We could not have done it without you. The
2010 Fall Festival netted about $8,000 for our schools. The Committee will be reflecting
on what went right and what could be improved next year.

At the end of the 209-2010 school year, the PTO sent out a survey to parents to get their feedback on what they would like to see the PTO do. We had more than 80 responses, and ther results of the survey will be available on this website soon. As a result of the survey, a few changes have been made to the PTO.
1. We will hold our general meetings in conjunction with school programs. For example: The Open house at WES on September 9th will be our first meeting. The executive board of the PTO (presidents, secretaries, treasurer and principals) will still meet at 1 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. If you would like to attend an executive board meeting, simply contact any member of the board (officers can be found on this website).
2. Plans are in the works to host at least 2 family nights this year. Family nights are free events designed to bring the school community together for fun. These cannot happen without a good planner. If you would be interested in planning one of these events, please contact one of the PTO presidents (Kristi Byers or Ami Greene).
3. A new T-shirt design has been made, and a custom order form will come home with your child soon.
Many more plans are being made and will be made public here and through the schools. Thank you for your input and continued support of the WPTO! |

The final numbers are in from Mary Parker, our PTO treasurer. The Fall Festival raised just short of $15,000 after expenses!!! Each dollar earned will benefit our students. Thanks to each of you who participated in the Festival!

The gym at Weaverville Elementary School was full on Saturday, November 7th. More than 20 artists and crafters including parents, teachers and students had tables at the first Neighborhood Art Market sponsored by the Weaverville PTO. Student art trading cards were for sale as well. Parents and others visited the booths and purchased art, crafts, and goodies. Special thanks to the committee that made it possible: Art teacher Clay Martin and parents Kathrine Carter, Donna Hollinshead, Amy Dowling and Rebecca Manske. If you attended the Market as a shopper or a participant, please let us know what you thought by clicking "Contact Us" on our home page!
